Valentine's day Origin :
Valentine's day originated after a Rome saint St. Valentine who was sentenced to death on 14 February. The reason why he was sentenced to death was while he was in jail he fell in love with Jailer's daughter and before his death he wrote a letter to his love named " A letter from your Valentine".
Valentine's day Symbol :
The symbol for valentine's day is actually Cupid. In Roman mythology, Cupid is the son of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. Legend has it that he is armed with a bow and arrows to pierce people's hearts causing them to fall deeply in love.
First Valentine's Day :
The first valentine's day was celebrated in the year 496. Having a particular Valentine's Day is a very old tradition, thought to have originated from a Roman festival. The Romans had a festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February - officially the start of their springtime.
It's thought that as part of the celebrations, boys drew the names of girls from a box. They would be boyfriend and girlfriend during the festival and sometimes they would get married.
Later on, the church wanted to turn this festival into a Christian celebration and decided to use it to remember St. Valentine too.
Gradually, St. Valentine's name started to be used by people to express their feelings to those they loved.
True Meaning of Valentine's :
As we all know valentine's day is popularly known as the Day of love and affection. Day of love doesn't mean to show love only to your girlfriend, boyfriend husband, or wife it simply means to show love and affection. We can show this love and affection to anyone we love wholeheartedly then whoever it may concern - parents, friends, siblings, and most importantly our own self. We every time forget our own self, we can celebrate valentine's with our own self, we can show some love to our own self.
Also, we can celebrate Valentine by spreading happiness, helping needy people, and bringing smiles to their faces.
In today's modern world, people celebrate valentine's day - the day of love with their family and friends whom we call our loved ones.
How to express your Love :
Many of us sometimes think that what we can do to express our love or how can we express our love for our loved ones. I have answered this question of several people. To express our love to our loved ones we can instead of buying them gifts and anything spend some time of ours with them, go on outings with them, do something that can bring a smile to their face. There's so much we can do, it's just we need to understand that thing.
One more thing I would like to say before concluding: Only Valentine doesn't need to be a day of love it's just a western culture, but if we really think then we can express love to our loved ones any time, any day. Love can be celebrated anytime anywhere, every day is a day of love when we are with our loved ones.
