Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause diseases ranging from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
The study, available on the preprint repository BioRxiv, has found that NeoCov resembles the virus that caused the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).
The WHO has said that further studies are needed to ascertain whether the NeoCov will pose a risk to humans. They also added that it works closely with other agencies like the World Organization for Animal Health to respond to the dangers of “emerging zoonotic viruses”, according to TASS.

1 NeoCov is an old virus closely related to MERS Cov which enter cells via DPP4 receptors
2. What's new : Neo cov can use ace2 receptors of bats but they can't use human ace2 receptor unless a new mutation occurs
Everything else is hype 🙏

This “not so new virus” was identified around 2013 in bats in S Africa, while looking for ancestors of the MERS CoV.
Note: This virus has not infected man, and has not killed anyone.https://t.co/A6y73xWg9x
